Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how the developer and owner of the App ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you download, install, access, or use our mobile application (the "App") and any related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, please discontinue use of the Service immediately.

This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. We are committed to protecting your privacy. We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate and improve the Service, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Identifier: A unique, randomly generated identifier specific to your device is created and stored in your device's encrypted secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). This identifier is used solely to recover your anonymous session if you reinstall the App. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other personally identifiable information.
  • Anonymous User ID: An anonymous user account is created automatically upon your first launch using our backend authentication provider. No email address, name, phone number, or password is required.
  • Device and Technical Information: We may collect basic technical information including device operating system version and App version, solely for the purpose of diagnosing technical issues and ensuring compatibility.

2.2 Information You Provide

  • Photos and Images: When you use the camera or photo library feature, the image you capture or select is transmitted to our servers for AI identification processing. Images are stored in encrypted cloud storage associated with your anonymous account.
  • User Preferences: Settings you configure within the App, including your preferred currency, display language, and timezone (auto-detected on first launch), are stored on our servers.
  • Snap History and Collections: Each item you identify through the App is saved to your snap history, including the item name, AI-generated analysis, estimated value, rarity assessment, and image reference. Items you manually add to your personal collection are stored separately.
  • Feedback and Corrections: If you submit feedback, satisfaction ratings, identification corrections, feature requests, or other in-App submissions, that content is stored and associated with your anonymous account.
  • Onboarding Responses: During the initial onboarding questionnaire, your responses (such as your goals and preferences regarding antiques) are stored to personalize your experience.

2.3 Subscription and Payment Information

Subscription and payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). WE DO NOT RECEIVE, STORE, OR PROCESS YOUR PAYMENT CARD DETAILS, BILLING ADDRESS, OR FINANCIAL ACCOUNT INFORMATION. We receive only a non-personally identifiable subscription status token from our subscription management provider (RevenueCat) linked to your anonymous user ID, confirming whether you hold an active subscription.

2.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or phone number (unless voluntarily provided when contacting us)
  • GPS location or precise geolocation data
  • Contacts, calendar, or microphone data
  • Browsing history outside of the App
  • Social media credentials
  • Financial account numbers or government identification numbers

We strongly advise you not to upload images containing sensitive personal information, financial documents, identification documents, or images of other individuals without their consent.

3. How We Collect Information

We collect information through the following means:

  • On App Launch: A device identifier and anonymous user session are created automatically upon first launch. User preferences (language, currency, timezone) are detected from your device settings and stored.
  • When You Use the Camera or Upload a Photo: The image is compressed locally on your device, then transmitted to our cloud storage and AI processing pipeline.
  • When You Interact with Results: Your snap history and any collections you build are saved to our backend database in association with your anonymous account.
  • When You Submit Feedback: Any text, rating, or correction you submit through in-App feedback features is transmitted to and stored on our servers.
  • Through Third-Party Providers: Our subscription management provider (RevenueCat) communicates subscription status to us. Our backend provider (Supabase) stores and processes data on our behalf.

4. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, behavioral profiling for third-party purposes, or sale of personal data.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

To operate the Service, we share certain information with trusted third-party service providers. These providers are permitted to use your information only to the extent necessary to perform services on our behalf.

  • OpenAI — Purpose: AI-powered antique identification and analysis. Data Shared: Uploaded images, item search context.

Each provider operates under their own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party providers.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own commercial or marketing purposes.

We may disclose your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: As described in Section 5, we share data with providers who operate services on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by applicable law, regulation, legal process, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or the public.
  • Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or similar transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
  • With Your Consent: We may share information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

We will not publicly share or distribute your uploaded images except as necessary to provide the Service (i.e., sending images to AI processing providers as described above).

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your anonymous account exists and as needed to provide the Service. Specifically:

  • Snap History and Collections: Retained until you delete your account or request deletion of specific items.
  • Uploaded Images: Stored in cloud storage and retained until account deletion, after which they are deleted within a reasonable timeframe.
  • User Preferences and Onboarding Data: Retained for the lifetime of your account to personalize your experience.
  • Feedback and Corrections: May be retained in anonymized or aggregated form even after account deletion, for the purpose of improving the Service.
  • Device Identifier: Retained in your device's secure storage until you uninstall the App or clear the secure storage. A reference is stored server-side for session recovery until account deletion.

Following account deletion, we may retain certain information for a period required by applicable law, for fraud prevention, or to resolve disputes. We cannot guarantee the immediate deletion of data cached by third-party service providers.

8. Your Rights and Choices

8.1 Access

You may request a summary of the data we hold associated with your anonymous account by contacting us at the email address in Section 13.

8.3 Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through:

  • The "Delete Account" option in the App's Settings; or

We will process your deletion request within a reasonable timeframe. Some data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes as described in Section 7.

8.4 Portability

You may request a copy of your snap history and collection data in a structured digital format by contacting us.

8.5 Opt-Out of AI Training

If you do not wish your uploaded images and identification results to be used to improve AI models, you may contact us to request exclusion. Note that we cannot retroactively remove data already incorporated into model training by third-party providers.

8.6 California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete that information, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us as described in Section 13.

8.7 European Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data, as well as the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of the contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (improving the Service, preventing fraud), and your consent (onboarding responses, image uploads).

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided information to us through the App, please contact us immediately at the email address in Section 13 and we will take steps to delete such information as promptly as possible.

Users between the ages of 13 and 18 must have verifiable parental consent to use the Service, as described in our Terms of Service.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Device identifier stored in platform-native encrypted secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore)
  • Server-side authentication and access controls via Supabase

⚠ SECURITY LIMITATION

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. We are not responsible for breaches caused by the actions of third-party service providers (such as Supabase or OpenAI), cyberattacks beyond our control, or your own failure to maintain the security of your device.

In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law.

11. International Data Transfers

The App is operated from the Republic of Serbia. However, the third-party providers we use (including Supabase, OpenAI, RevenueCat, and SerpAPI) may store and process your data on servers located in the United States or other countries outside of your jurisdiction.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data transfer restrictions, please be aware that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries that do not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers.

We rely on the standard contractual clauses and other legal mechanisms provided by applicable data protection law for such transfers, to the extent required.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page; and
  • Where reasonably practicable, provide notice within the App.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.

If we make changes that materially reduce your rights or significantly change how we use your data, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you directly through the App before the changes take effect.
